No matter how much you teach your child the right social skills, you will never know whether they have learned these things in the right way, unless you can see how they apply them. Leaving the path to parenthood may initially seem daunting. You find yourself wishing there was more taught in schools on the subject. There are a lot of support around, so please do not be worried. Below you will find some steps that may help parenting.

1. Make time for your child. This may seem obvious, but there are often conflicting demands on our time and it is sometimes difficult to prioritize. However, there is no substitute to give them your own time – it costs nothing, but worth the world to them.

2. Be consistent in how you parent your child. If your child does something wrong, make sure they understand that it is wrong and why it is. If they do the same thing, tell them there will be such a consequence (not sit on the naughty, go to their room, but you feel you must treat). If they do not always receive the message – make your threat. Do not retreat! They need to know that you mean what you say. They need to trust your word.
